"Doing Time"

My two adorable children thought that it was a good idea to draw all over my couch, the wall, the table, and the tv with a piece of chalk. Now, I know that this is really a small offense except that this is the third time this week. Mom was done. Their punishment was a series of unpleasant chores around the house which included picking up their rooms, cleaning in the bathroom, washing off all of the chalk in the house and outside, washing windows, and swiping the back porch as you can see in the photo. They thought that it was kind of fun which works out well for both parties. Now, you might be thinking that I am a "mean mommy" but hopefully they learned a lesson about where is it ok to color and where it is not. All in all the Fullmer household is a happy home once again.

That i snot the sign of a "mean mommy"...that is the sign of a mother doing her job. It is our job to teach what is right and what is wrong...and if it takes some physical labor to get a point across, I see no harm in that. Ethan broke the cord to Jeff's laptop and he had to put his time in to earn money to help pay for it.

I don't think you are mean. My potty trained son peed all over the couch because he didn't want to get up to go to the bathroom. I made him scrub it until my blood pressure went down. It was that or yell and get angry. :) I think you handled it very nicely.

Mean? I would probably would have spanked both of mine before thinking of doing something a little more humane like chores. I promise that I don't beat my kids--to hard. But seriously, I think that doing chores is an excellent way to make up for a bad deed. It re-directs their minds and usually gives them a great sense of accomplishment.

It should have said "too hard" instead of "to hard".
Why don't they let you edit your comments? A serious flaw in the blogging world if you ask me.
